The Michael Hastings Wreck

Michael Krikorian, an essayist and former Los Angeles Times crime reporter, happened upon the scene a few hours after journalist Michael Hastings’s speeding car slammed into a palm tree and burst into a fireball.

Krikorian has seen his share of fatal car wrecks. But this one was different. As he put it, “This demands a closer examination.”In accident-investigation parlance, it was a roadway departure–a non-intersection crash in which a vehicle leaves the traveled way for some reason.
But how and why did Hastings’s Mercedes depart the traveled way, and why was it traveling so perilously fast?

In a city where there seem to be as many car wrecks as cars, North Highland Avenue in L.A.’s Hancock Park neighborhood is not exactly Dead Man’s Curve.

A fatal car accident there is rare. Highland is a four-lane neighborhood artery as straight as a laser, with a narrow, grassy median lined with towering Washingtonia robusta palms. In the two miles between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards, not a single traffic fatality was recorded on Highland from 2001 to 2009, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data. http://map.itoworld.com/road-casualties-usa#fullscreen

In the final moments of Michael Hastings’s life, the car he was operating accelerated to a treacherous speed before swerving off the pavement, mounting the median and slamming into one of the palms. There were no skid marks—no apparent attempt to brake before the collision.

Hastings, 33, covered the Iraq War as a young correspondent for Newsweek. But he made front-page news (and won the prestigious George Polk journalism prize) for his 2010 Rolling Stone magazine profile of “The Runaway General,” Stanley McChrystal, commander of NATO’s security force in Afghanistan. Hastings’s story portrayed the dismissive contempt with which McChrystal and his staff viewed President Obama and Vice President Biden. The general apologized, calling the profile “a mistake reflecting poor judgment.” But he was forced to resign.

Michael Hastings was carving out a journalism niche as a muckraker, and some see nefarious forces at work in his death.

We asked Michael Krikorian for his take on the curious accident, which happened in his hometown on a block he visits several times a week. He provides the details of new video evidence that offers a few clues about the seemingly inexplicable fatality.—David J. Krajicek

Role of Illuminati Cult Philosophy & 9/11 - Fritz Springmeier

This interview is very sobering reminder that there is a massive psychological operation truly at place in the Western World. The nebulous tendencies of the illuminati are discussed. There are many interesting connections between publicly released facts and the inferences about those facts that show an unavoidable numerological pattern that may be used by nefarious elites or bloodlines that have a larger than average net worth. As Springmeier explains well, for an occultist this is essentially a message that says 'we are performing a ritual' and then the public is controlled on mass scale or placed into the abattoir for slaughter.

Unable to Detect Wireless Network Name (SSID)

What is SSID?
The SSID (Service Set Identifier) differentiates one WLAN from another, so all access points and all devices attempting to connect to a specific WLAN must use the same SSID.
This article will serve as a guide in troubleshooting a problem when wireless client is unable to detect an SSID.
Issue:
The SSID is not showing on the wireless networks list
Cause:
  • AP/router is not on
  • Wireless Router Radio is disabled
  • SSID is not being broadcast or “Hidden”
Resolution:
  1. Make sure the router is powered ON and operational.
  2. Check if the Wireless Router Radio is enabled. A wireless adapter can only connect to an AP or wireless router if the wireless feature of the router is enabled.
Following instructions explain how to check if the Wireless Router Radio is enabled on a Netgear router.
    1. Open an Internet browser and login to your router’s setup page. For Netgear routers, type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 on your Internet browser.
    2. Go to Advanced menu and click Wireless Settings.
    3. The Enable Wireless Router Radio box must be checked to enable wireless function on the router
      Image
  3. Make sure the SSID is being broadcast and not hidden. See How to connect to a Hidden SSID described later in this article.

To to check if the SSID is being broadcast or hidden on a NETGEAR router, follow these instructions:
    1. Open an Internet browser and login to your router’s setup page. For most Netgear routers, type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 on your Internet browser.
    2. Go to Advanced menu and click Wireless Settings
    3. The wireless network name is hidden if the Enable SSID Broadcast box is unchecked.
How to connect to a Hidden SSID?
The following instructions explain how to configure NETGEAR wireless adapter to connect with a Hidden SSID (wireless network) using NETGEAR wireless configuration utility.
  1. Open the NETGEAR utility (smart wizard program) and go to the Networks tab.
    Image
  2. Hidden SSID will appear blank on the wireless network list. Highlight the row for the hidden SSID and click Connect.
  3. On the Settings tab, type the SSID and security passphrase of the wireless network on their appropriate fields and click Apply.
    Image
  4. You should now be connected to the wireless network. If you are not able to connect, make sure to verify the SSID and passphrase for the wireless network. Note: SSID and security passphrase are case-sensitive.

Infowars Finest: Lee Ann Mcadoo!

One of the finest Infowars Reporters at the Central Texas Command Bunker, is of course Lee Ann Mcadoo. I am still frustrated that they dismissed Aaron Dykes, and that and have kept various reporters in front of the camera, but choosing a talented film student at UT Austin Graduate to join the The Alex Jones Show was an exceptional decision.  She covers controversial issues such as: false flag operations, Obamacare, psychotropic drugs, Banker Bailouts, gun control and more various crimes...

After the battle for the victorious Infowars Report contest it was unfortunate that Jennifer Collins could not join the Central Texas Command Center. Below you can see that she has a lot of integrity by covering the most important issues such as the exponential growth in student loan debt that has surpassed credit card debt in the U.S.

CBS Sacramento - California Computer Glitch

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A spokeswoman says EDD is trying to clear as many unemployment claims as possible the day after an employee said the problem is much worse than the department is letting on. EDD says it’s employees have been working late and sometimes overnight to repair problems with a new system affecting thousands of unemployed Californians. But there are differing opinions on what went wrong. “We apologize wholeheartedly for what some of our customers are going through,” said Loree Levy with the Employment Development Department.

The department says its doing everything possible to pay thousands of Californians their unemployment benefits after a computer glitch in its newly installed system. “We have to get through this transition as quickly as possible so that people don’t encounter this issue again,” Levy said. CBS13 first brought you the story last week of Victoria Ford saying because her benefits were delayed, she was being evicted from her apartment for not being able to pay her rent. We also talked to an EDD employee, who did not want to show their face, but told us the problem was the new system couldn’t read any claim that was handwritten. They said the problem would affect hundreds of thousands of struggling people in the state.

“If we are behind, which I know we are—back to when the system started on Aug. 30. There’s more than 28,000 that file every week, much more,” the employee said. “When it came in, there was some site interruption with some old stop-pay flags that were getting in there and interfering with some new claim processing,” Levy said. But the department says the problem is because the new system misread old data. They also said there is no indication the problem would be so widespread. Meanwhile, people like Ford are still waiting on their money. But in the meantime, she’s trying to sell her car to stay afloat. “I don’t know what else to do, I don’t have any other options of raising money,” she said. “I feel they had a responsibility, the people that implemented the system had a responsibility to know that it worked to begin with.” EDD says its corrected 84 percent of the claims that the new system didn’t accept and that people could start receiving their money as early as tomorrow.

Des Moines Tops List of the Best Places for Business and Careers in U.S.

Des Moines Tops List Of The Best Places For Business And Careers

Last week's jobs report for July showed unemployment dropping from 7.6% to 7.4%, which marks the lowest rate since December 2008. Good times, right? Not exactly. The rate fell in part because more and more Americans have ceased looking for work. Wage growth has been anemic and the recovery from the recession has been the slowest since World War II. The U.S. economy is sputtering along at 2% growth.
But there are places with strong business climates, fueled by low costs and educated labor forces. With that in mind, Forbes crunched the numbers for our 15th annual list of the Best Places For Business And Careers.
Des Moines, Iowa, tops our list this year. It is the only place that ranks among the top quartile in at least nine of the 12 metrics we graded the cities on. Highlights for the Des Moines metro area include business costs that are 17% below the national average and an educated workforce where 36% of the population has a college degree and 92% possess a high school diploma.
Iowa’s capital city has a strong foothold in finance and insurance with the highest concentration of financial services employment in the country, and employers are doubling down on the area. Wells Fargo has added more than 4,000 jobs in Des Moines over the past 10 years and recently announced a new $100 million expansion in the area. Principal Financial, headquartered in Des Moines, is putting $250 million into an expansion of its downtown campus.
Facebook and Microsoft announced plans in April to invest $300 million to build its fourth owned and operated data center. The facility in Altoona, part of the Des Moines metropolitan statistical area, is expected to be up and running by the end of next year. Microsoft is investing $678 million to expand its existing state-of-the-art data center in West Des Moines, which opened in 2009. A big carrot in Iowa for data centers and other businesses with heavy energy usage: Energy costs are 22% below the national average, according to Moody’s Anayltics.
It is not just the service economy thriving in Des Moines. The metro area had record merchandise exports last year of $1.2 billion, up 22% over 2011. Top categories include agricultural products, plastics and rubber products, processed foods, machinery and chemicals.
Provo, Utah, ranks second on the strength of a humming economy, which grew 6% last year to $18 billion. The metro area also had the country's top job growth of 5%. Brigham Young University is a stabilizing force for the area and the largest employer in Provo.
Raleigh, N.C., has been a perennial in our top five and this year ranks third. Employers are able to tap the top universities in and around the metro area like Duke, the University of North Carolina and North Carolina State. They provide a steady stream of educated, young cheap labor. College attainment levels in Raleigh are 41%. People continue to flock to Raleigh, which had the second highest rate of net migration of any metro area over the past five years.
San Antonio leads five Texas cities in the top 25 of our list. San Antonio, like much of Texas, benefits from business costs that are 19% below the national average. Job growth in the Alamo City has been strong in healthcare and bioscience, as well as energy and information technology. Becton Dickenson, Boeing, Centene and United Healthcare Group all added at least 250 jobs in San Antonio last year (see "Austin Is Top Spot For Future Job Growth").
San Antonio also boasts one of the healthiest city governments as the only U.S. city with more than a million people to receive an AAA bond rating on its debt from the three major ratings agencies. The city is booming, with net migration into the Alamo City of 285,300 over the past 10 years. Other Texas locales that rank highly on our Best Places list include Dallas (No. 13), Austin (No. 14), Fort Worth (No. 15) and Houston (No. 25).
To gauge the best places for business in the U.S., we rate the 200 largest metro areas on a dozen factors related to jobs, costs (business and living), income growth, quality of life and education of the labor force. Forbes uses data from economic research firm Moody’s Analytics, the U.S. Census and demographer Bert Sperling, who runs Sperling’s BestPlaces (click here for a more detailed methodology).
California cities dominate the bottom of our ranking, taking four of the last five spots. Salinas, Stockton, Merced and Modesto are all plagued by flat or negative income growth, sky-high unemployment and an uneducated labor force (only 12% of adults have a college degree in Merced).
Atlantic City brings up the rear, ranking 200th. The New Jersey gambling and convention destination has been hammered by the economic downturn and increasing gambling options in surrounding states. The numbers paint an ugly picture. Unemployment has hovered near 13% and employment has fallen 1.9% annually the past five years. Business costs are 8% above the national average and there has been a steady net migration out of the area since 2007.

July 31, 2013 -8x8 Inc., Issued New Distributed Conferencing Patent by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

8x8 Issued New Distributed Conferencing Patent by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Jul 31, 2013

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- 8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGHT), provider of innovative cloud communications solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a new patent related to its conferencing technologies. On July 30, 2013, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued United States Patent number 8,498,725 entitled "Systems and Methods for Distributed Conferencing." This patent relates generally to methods and systems for distributed conferencing in a collaborative environment.

Many collaborative groups and associations rely on holding conferences to advance their work and disseminate information. While attending a conference meeting in person allows the attendee to experience and participate in the meeting as intended, remote participants (e.g., attending over the Internet) often are subjected to a much lower quality experience due to pre-distribution of older versions of presentation slides, poor audio quality, transmission interruptions due to server crashes, and so forth. These factors diminish the ability for remote participants to attend the meeting in real time in any meaningful way. In current systems for distributing "live" conference meeting content to remote participants, the content is gathered and managed by a central server. As such, any problem experienced by the server affects all of the meeting contents routed through the server. For instance, server-related disruptions such as a server crash will affect all of the content provided to that server.

8x8's invention relates to distributed conferencing systems and methods that reliably provide local meeting content to remote participants. In accordance with various example embodiments, a plurality of authorized source units generate media content responsive to and representative of respective content for a meeting. In response to the generated media content, one or more data streams are developed at each authorized source, each stream being a separately-decodable real-time representation of at least a portion of the media content generated at the respective authorized source. The separate data streams are transmitted by each authorized source to a common multicast IP group address for retrieval or access by remote participants.

Since its establishment in 1987, 8x8 has been awarded eighty-nine (89) United States patents covering a variety of voice and video communications, signaling, processing and storage technologies.

8x8 Inc VOIP E-Rate Program Offers Subsidized Phones for Schools & Libraries

Do you know of a K-12 school, library or school district that needs affordable phone service or telecommunications upgrades? Did you know that 8x8 can provide significantly discounted phone, fax and Web conferencing services to these organizations?

That’s because 8x8 participates in the federal E-rate program, which is paid for by a tax called the Universal Service Fund, a $2.25-billion government fund that subsidizes telecommunications modernization and upgrades at qualifying educational institutions. The
Universal Service Administrative Company administers the fund and determines how much the program will subsidize for each application, based on need and other factors.

8x8’s entire service fee qualifies for a discount, and we have seen subsidies of up to 90% approved for our services to K-12 schools and libraries. For example, St. Matthew’s Lutheran School in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin recently used the E-rate system to replace an aging PBX that was literally demolished by a bolt from the blue, when lightning struck the school.

E-Rate Program Subsidizes Phone Service Costs for St. Matthew’s
George Zaferos, business manager at St. Matthew’s, began looking for a hosted PBX solution that would reduce the school’s up-front costs. He contacted 8x8, and he says that from his first conversation with the team there, he felt that 8x8 was a good fit.

“8x8 knows how to scale to meet the needs of smaller organizations,” he says. “The technology is easy to use and manage, and the cost is phenomenally competitive, especially compared to do-it-yourself phone systems.”

“8x8’s participation in E-rate allowed us to add features and capacity to our phone system and still keep our costs down,” says Zaferos.

See how 8x8
VoIP phone service helped St. Matthew’s School cut costs and get more features.

As Zaferos’s experience shows, this is a great way for schools and libraries to get access to 21st-century communications services at a significant discount. If you know of a school that could benefit from this program, call me at 408-654-0842 or send me an email at

July 24, 2013 - SPAIN Santiago Train Derailment

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Spain, July 25 - A train derailed outside the ancient northwestern Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday evening, killing at least 77 people and injuring up to 131 in one of Europe's worst rail disasters. Bodies covered in blankets lay next to the overturned carriages as smoke billowed from the wreckage. Firefighters clambered over the twisted metal trying to get survivors out of the windows, while ambulances and fire engines surrounded the scene. The government said it was working on the assumption the derailment, which occurred on the eve of the city's main religious festival, was an accident. Sabotage or attack was unlikely to be involved, an official source said, though the devastation will have stirred memories of a train bombing in Madrid in 2004, carried out by Islamist extremists, that killed 191 people. The Santiago de Compostela train operated by state rail company Renfe with 247 people on board derailed as the city prepared for the festival of Saint James, when thousands of Christian pilgrims from across the world pack the streets.

The city's tourism board said all festivities, including the traditional High Mass at the centuries-old cathedral, were cancelled as the city went into mourning following the crash. "It was going so quickly. ... It seems that on a curve the train started to twist, and the wagons piled up one on top of the other," passenger Ricardo Montesco told Cadena Ser radio station. "A lot of people were squashed on the bottom. We tried to squeeze out of the bottom of the wagons to get out and we realised the train was burning. ... I was in the second wagon and there was fire. ... I saw corpses," he added. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who was born in Santiago de Compostela, will visit the site on Thursday morning, his spokeswoman said. "In the face of a tragedy such as just happened in Santiago de Compostela on the eve of its big day, I can only express my deepest sympathy as a Spaniard and a Galician," Rajoy said in a statement.

 TRAVELLING TOO FAST?

El Pais newspaper cited sources close to the investigation as saying the train was travelling at over twice the speed limit on a sharp curve. Both Renfe and state-owned Adif, which is in charge of the tracks, had opened an investigation into the cause of the derailment, Renfe said. An official source said no statement would be made regarding the cause until the black boxes of the train were examined, but said it was most likely an accident. "We are moving away from the hypothesis of sabotage or attack," he said. Clinics in Santiago de Compostela were overwhelmed with people flocking to give blood, while hotels organised free rooms for relatives.

Madrid sent forensic scientists and hospital staff to the region on special flights. The death toll was 77, a spokeswoman for Galicia's Supreme Court said on Thursday morning, adding that the figures were still provisional. She said that 73 three people had died at the site of the derailment and four died in hospital. Up to 131 people were injured, a Galicia-based spokeswoman for the office of the central government had earlier said. "The scene is shocking, it's Dante-esque," said the head of the surrounding Galicia region, Alberto Nunez Feijoo, in a radio interview. The eight-carriage train was travelling from Madrid to Ferrol on the Galician coast when it derailed, Renfe said in a statement. The disaster happened as Spain is struggling to emerge from a long-running recession marked by government-driven austerity to bring its finances into order.

Firefighters called off a strike to help with the disaster, while hospital staff, many operating on reduced salaries because of spending cuts, worked overtime to tend the injured. The city's main festival focuses on St James, one of Jesus' 12 disciples whose remains are said to rest there and who is patron saint of Galicia. The apostle's shrine there is the destination of the famous El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, followed by Christians since the Middle Ages. The derailment happened less than two weeks after six people died when a train came off the tracks and hit the platform at a station in central France. That accident may have been caused by a loose steel plate at a junction, French train operator SNCF said. Wednesday's derailment was one of the worst rail accidents in Europe over the past 25 years. In November 2000, 155 people were killed when a fire in a tunnel engulfed a funicular train packed with skiers in Austria. In Montenegro, up to 46 people were killed and nearly 200 injured in 2006 when a packed train derailed and plunged into a ravine outside the capital, Podgorica. In Spain itself, 41 people were killed the same year when an underground train derailed and overturned in a tunnel just before entering the Jesus metro station in Valencia. July 10, 2013 - Adam Kokesh Police Raid in Virginia

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AVTM Official Press Release RE: Raid on ADAM VS THE MAN Studios 10JUL13 (HERNDON, VA 10 JULY 2013)— On the evening of Tuesday, 09JUL13, at approximately 7:45 PM, a combination of US Parks Police (an arm of the DHS) raided Adam Kokesh’s residence.

Local Herndon police assisted in the armed invasion. The officers used a battering ram to knock in the door after two knocks, and did not announce that they had a warrant. Immediately after breaking down the door, a flash bang grenade was deployed in the foyer. Numerous police vehicles, including a light armored vehicle and two low-flying helicopters barricaded Adam’s street. More than 20 armored SWAT team members surrounded the house, as well as a number of detectives, and plainclothes officers. Assault rifles were aimed on all members of the team as they were handcuffed without being told why they were detained. Masked and armored police in full “Storm Trooper” gear flooded in and ransacked the residence. The team was cordoned in a front room, while Adam was pulled aside for questioning.

Over the course of the next five hours, the police searched every corner of the house with canine units and blueprints to the house obtained prior to the search. All officers refused to speak to the crew while they we being detained. They confiscated cell phones and personal items with force. Throughout the ordeal, the police repeatedly showed a volatile desire to initiate aggressive, forceful conduct with detainees. At one point, Adam politely requested to use the restroom and was kicked by the officer forcing him to sit handcuffed on the floor. After hours of determined attempts, the safe was forced open and all items inside were confiscated. Adam was arrested and his crew were told he was being brought to the Herndon Police department overnight. Well after midnight, police officers cleared the house. Fairfax County Adult Detention Center has stated that it has Adam in custody. The ADAM VS THE MAN Team will be continuing production on the podcast and the Youtube channel as long as Adam remains imprisoned for an act of civil disobedience. We will continue to spread the message of liberty, self ownership, and the non-aggression principle regardless of the government’s relentless attacks on our operation. We will continue to combat its desperate attempts to crush a worldwide, revolutionary shift in the people’s understanding of the state’s illegitimacy—after all, good ideas don’t require force. Assigning Static IP Address for Router

Dynamic IP vs Static IP

Static IP addressing is for one customer on one IP address and Dynamic IP addressing assigns a different IP address each time the ISP customer logs on to their computer, but this is dependent upon the Internet Service Provider (ISP) because some ISP's only change the IP address as they deem it necessary.
If you have Dynamic IP Addressing through your Website Host it means that you are sharing an IP Address with several other customers.
If you are a beginner on the internet, an avid internet user, are entertaining the thought of starting your own website business, are a gamer, use VOIP or VPN there are several things you should know about IP Addressing.

Static IP Addressing

If you feel the need to always know what your IP address is then you need a Static IP address, because it is constant. Static IP addresses are more reliable for Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), more reliable to host a gaming website or to play X-Box, Play Station, use Virtual Private Network for secure access to files from your company network computer, etc. Static IP addresses are also great if you use your computer as a server, as it should give your file server faster file uploads and downloads. Another plus with Static IP's, when hosting a website you are not sharing your IP with another company who sends out a lot of E-mail SPAM and not only has their website been shut down but in turn gets your IP address blacklisted.
In contrast a static IP address can become a security risk, because the address is always the same. Static IP's are easier to track for data mining companies. Static IP addressing is less cost effective than Dynamic IP Addressing.

Dynamic IP Addressing

The biggest advantages of Dynamic IP Addressing are less security risk as the computer is assigned a new IP address each time the customer logs on, they are cost effective and there is automatic network configuration (the less human intervention with network configuration the better). Dynamic addressing is usually used by ISP's so that one IP address can be assigned to several users, however some ISP's use Sticky Dynamic IP Addressing and do not change the IP address very often. Dynamic IP Addressing can be used by families with several computers or by a small business owner who has a home office. The software that comes with a router allows for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) setup and assigns each computer attached to the router an IP address automatically.
In contrast, Dynamic IP addressing should not be used for VOIP, VPN, playing online games or game hosting because Dynamic IP addressing is less reliable then Static IP addressing and could cause the service to disconnect while you are on a VOIP, VPN or gaming.

VOIP Static IP Benefits

Step One: Run an IP Config
To run an IPConfig, first pull up the Command Prompt Window on a computer that is connected to the same network a VOIP device. There are several ways to pull up the Command Prompt.
Press Windows Key + R, then type in "CMD" and hit Enter
Type > IPConfig
One you have the Default Gateway and Subnet Mask, we can now determine what kind of Static IP address to assign a VOIP device. All you have to do is take the Default Gateway, and change the last octet of the numbers to any number that is outside of the normal DHCP range and use that number for as the IPv4 Address
Default Gateway: 192 168 1 1
Static IP Address 192 168 1 XXX
Simply replace the XXX with any number between 201 - 254.
Example: 192 168 1 201
Step Two: Now that you know what static IP to assign to the device, run a simple ping test in the Command Prompt window to confirm that the IP address is free:
In command prompt window, simply type in "ping <ip address>" hit ENTER
Example: ping 192.168.1.201
If the user receives a respone ping, then there is a device on that IP Address and you must select a differen IP Address. If the user receives a response along the lines of "Destination unreachable", then that IP address is OK to use.
Step Three: Now you may assign the IP address to the device.
There are two methods, you can use to assign the IP Address for VOIP:
1) Through the Graphic User Interface (GUI)
2) Through the device itself.
To configure the Static IP through the GUI, determine the IP Address of the device. After getting the device's IP Address, log into it through a web browser. All the user has to do is ener the device's ccurrent IP Address into the Address bar on their browser. No www or http:// is needed. Hit ENTER.
Now you can be logged into the GUI of your routing device. You can also emulate this if it is different router device than the one you are currently using.

San Luis Obispo, California - Many Graduates To Be Without Jobs Yet Again

Many Graduates To Be Without Jobs Yet Again

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara will be sending off thousands of graduating seniors into the real world this weekend.
Some of them will have jobs waiting for them, but many will not.
Evan Nickel, senior at Cal Poly, says, "it was like, wow, I really made it here. This will probably be what leads me into a potential career."
That was Nickel's reaction when Warner Bros. Entertainment gave him the call to let him know that he'd gotten the job. Nickel will be involved with video game production.

Nickel worked hard in the classroom, earning a degree in Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies.
"It was a constant freakout with how I was going to get a job and how this would all play into my future," says Nickel.
Evan admits he stumbled on a bit of luck in securing a job, but his work ethic in the classroom might have had something to do with it.
"The best classes that I took were the ones that I got to choose what I was doing myself. And those were the ones that I really spent a lot of time on, 200 plus hours making a short film that was 3 minutes long," says Nickel.
While Evan's story of hard work in the classroom translating into a job after graduation is inspiring, it's not the norm. For every Evan, there's many students who graduate without a job.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers released a survey a few months back. The survey projected that employers would only hire 2 percent more graduates from the class of 2013 than last year's class.
Career services at Cal Poly has seen an increase in students using them to increase their job prospects. Their advice to young students is to seek out job-related experience over their college career.
"When you actually are adding to society, adding to a culture, getting experience, getting direct experience in what you are interested in. That's a very important and critical talking point when you interview with employers," says Carole Moore, program coordinator at Cal Poly's Career Services.
Career services at Cal Poly also says they've made it a point to reach out to freshman and sophomore students, so that they'll start looking into possible internships and jobs earlier rather than later.
